Privacy Policy
Strove Group (Pty) Ltd · Last updated: July 2026
1. Who we are
Strove.co.za is operated by Strove Group (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/540385/07) ("Strove", "we", "us"). Strove helps you find, enquire about, book, and pay trusted local service providers in South Africa.
This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use strove.co.za, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
2. Information Officer
Our Information Officer is Nadia Naidoo. You can reach the Information Officer at support@strove.africa for any privacy-related question, request, or complaint.
3. What we collect
Account and contact details: your name, email address, and cell phone number when you create an account, send an enquiry, request a quote, or make a booking.
Booking and enquiry details: the service you are interested in, your location or suburb, preferred dates, and any information you include in messages to us.
Payment information: payments are processed by our payment service provider (Paystack). Your card details are captured and processed by the payment provider — Strove never stores your card number, CVV, or banking credentials.
WhatsApp details: if you interact with us on WhatsApp, we process your WhatsApp number and the messages you exchange with Strove.
Newsletter: your email address if you subscribe to updates.
Technical data: device and browser information, pages visited, and similar usage data collected through cookies and similar technologies.
4. Why we process your information
To provide the service: matching you with service providers, sending your enquiries, arranging quotes and bookings, and processing payments.
To communicate with you: booking confirmations, payment confirmations, service updates, and responses to your questions — by email, SMS, or WhatsApp.
To improve the platform: understanding how the site is used so we can make it better.
Marketing: only where you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time.
Legal compliance: keeping records that tax, financial, and consumer-protection laws require us to keep.
Our lawful bases under POPIA are performance of a contract, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the platform, and compliance with legal obligations.
5. WhatsApp communications
Strove communicates with clients directly — all WhatsApp communication about enquiries, quotes, bookings, and payments takes place between you and Strove, not between you and the service provider. WhatsApp is provided by Meta, which processes message data in accordance with its own terms. We recommend reviewing WhatsApp’s privacy policy for details of Meta’s processing.
6. Sharing your information
Service providers you book: we share the details a provider reasonably needs to quote for and perform the work you requested — typically your name, the service details, and the service address.
Our processors: hosting and database providers, our payment provider (Paystack), our email delivery provider, and Meta (for WhatsApp messaging). Each processes your information only on our instructions.
Legal requirements: where a law, regulator, or court requires disclosure.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Cross-border transfers
Some of our processors store information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we ensure the recipient is subject to laws or agreements that protect your information to a standard substantially similar to POPIA.
8. Security
We protect your information with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and the separation of payment processing to our accredited payment provider. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Transaction, tax, and FICA-related records are kept for the periods prescribed by law (generally at least five years). If you close your account, remaining personal information is deleted or de-identified, except limited records we must retain — booking and dispute records may be retained for up to three years after closure.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA you may: request access to the personal information we hold about you; request correction or deletion of inaccurate, outdated, or unlawfully held information; object to processing, including direct marketing; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact support@strove.africa. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforeg@justice.gov.za).
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working (essential cookies) and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect how the site works.
12. Children
Strove is intended for people who are 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Service providers as independent parties
Service providers listed on Strove are independent businesses. Where a provider processes your personal information for its own purposes (for example, its own customer records), it does so as an independent responsible party under POPIA, subject to its own privacy practices.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, and material changes will be communicated on the site or by email.
